What do you hope to experience at Blogging While Brown 2013?

Since this is my first Blogging While Brown Conference, I am looking forward to hearing the guest speakers and taking full advantage of the networking opportunities. There is so much good information out there in the blogosphere and I want to meet some of the individuals behind it!

Why did you decide to start a blog?

I answered an advertisement for volunteer bloggers that appeared in the New York Nonprofit Press, a publication that focuses on the human services sector. At first, I was hesitant. I knew little about blogging. But then, that inner voice told me to give it a try. I have years of experience in the human services sector and I knew I had much to write about. This year marks my fifth year of blogging for the New York Nonprofit Press' E-Newsletter. I have published over 200 posts and the number of people reading my work has grown tremendously! My work has even been referenced on other web sites.

Are there specific types of bloggers you are interested in connecting with at the conference?

I am especially interested in meeting bloggers who write about women's issues, health and wellness, spirituality, and jazz.

What are your top blogging tips for other bloggers?

First, trust your intuition. When I am selecting topics to write about, many times I have a gut feeling that I need to weigh in on something. There are also times when I have doubts about having written something. I go ahead and publish the piece, and then my editor or someone else will praise it, which tells me I was on the right track. Second, thank the people who support your work. When people tell me that they enjoy my blog, I tell them how much I appreciate their readership. At the end of the each year, I make sure I thank my readers and encourage them to join me next year.

Where do you see you and your blog in 5 years?

I see myself starting a second blog and having at least one book published within five years.

Do you need something from your fellow bloggers to take your blogging to the next level?

I want to learn how to better promote my blog.

Welcome  to BWB !
