What do you hope to experience at BWB 2013?
A lot! I want to become more comfortable with the technical side of Wordpress maintenance. I want to learn how best to engage my audience across several social media platforms. And of course tips on how to achieve work / life / blog balance. I really want to learn how and when to grow my blog into other media (podcasts, books, etc). And of course, I can't wait to meet and learn from other bloggers, established and new.
Why did you decide to start a blog?
From childhood, I always liked to journal and dreamed of becoming a writer. As I got older, I found myself telling & writing stories of my youth and how I walked the line between Caribbean & American culture. Everyone I shared the stories with would say 'You should start a blog!' So I did.
Are there specific types of bloggers you are interested in connecting with at the conference?
I'd love to connect with those who blog about the Caribbean or life in the Caribbean diaspora
What are your top blogging tips for other bloggers?
Write posts ahead of time and develop an editorial calendar. I'm still new to this but I know if I wait until inspiration hits me, there will be huge gaps in my posting schedule.
Where do you see you and your blog in 5 years?
Hopefully, in 5 years,I'll be blogging full-time. My dream is for my blog to grow to include a podcast, a web-series and several books. Basically, my own mini-media empire. :-)
